Next steps on the path to Meaningful Use

If you’ve established that your ROI vendor is prepared to help you meet Meaningful Use requirements,  you may be wondering: “What next?” The following sequence provides general guidelines for logical subsequent activities.

Your ROI vendor should be ready to:

• Begin tracking requests received for electronic copies of medical records
• Provide reports to document  requests that were fulfilled within the required three business days
• Discuss the impact on hybrid medical records and how we can  adapt paper and electronic tracking based on your unique needs

In addition, your ROI vendor should be prepared to:

• Define operational procedures 
• Document the processes in your Procedures Manual and ensure that staff associates are trained
• Ensure staff understands the importance of prioritizing those patient requests for electronic delivery of medical information
